Welcome to Episode X… er, Ten… er, 10. How are we saying that now? I’ll never get it right!
Today, as we head toward the conclusion of the HoX/PoX Event with Powers of X #5, we do a little bit of world-building in X⁰… and a little bit of world-destroying in X³… guess which one I enjoyed reading more?
We learn how some of the Krakoan sausage is made, and also get a really awesome cameo from a certain Sub-Mariner. If only the issue ended there…
Also: Your listener mail, and a brief anecdote about the how this show became “a thing” that I do. Thanks everybody!
God, I sounded negative on the feedback this issue. I probably overstated my frustration with DOX. My main problem is I can't afford to buy that many books particularly as my finances have been curtailed by the whole 2020 thing. Also there was a price rise on US comics here in the UK which was out of proportion to the comparative increases in the USA which limited my options. My move away from buying all the books was not because I hated them all but because I wasn't getting enough out of them to justify paying a fortune. I do have Marvel Unlimited, though, so I can read along with you provided you remain behind. I am still buying Marauders on a regular basis as it has a lot of my favourite characters in it and has created a storyline where every issue is essential.
As to this issue, I loved the background into the creation of the status quo of Krakoa. I particularly enjoyed the Magneto, Xavier and Frost section. You will be seeing the Quiet Council graphic again.
I'm with you about the impenetrable year 1k stuff. I remember hating it as I first read HOXPOX. It does go somewhere interesting though and thankfully all you need to understand is the concept of assimilation into a hive mind as similar to gaining an evolutionary advantage.
I'm also impressed with your design skills. The logo for my podcast is considerably worse.
Thanks again for the fantastic podcast.
