Celebrating eighteen months of X-Lapsed with the Secret Origin of Captain Krakoa!
This is still a story I’m having a hard time getting out of my own way on… but, if I squint and forget that this takes place in a shared and fantastical comic book universe… I can *almost* get it?

Given how nearly every x-member has been off-model and uncharacteristically blindly accepting of all things Krakoa during this era I was expecting a revelation about what’s actually going on with the resurrections but with Hickman gone it looks like there isn’t one. All of these characters got stupider three years ago and that’s just how they are now. I’m with X-Lapsed for the long haul but I’m lapsed on these books because it feels like im reading about dubious, dumb knockoffs. If I read a book about Hercule Poirot where he brilliantly works on solving a case but never questions why his valet Georges is suddenly encouraging him to drink a strange golden drink nightly before bed and is seemingly unconcerned that the ingredients of the drink are mentioned as being from the black market, well, then no matter how brilliant his solution is for the case he’s investigating, I’m still going to think he’s a bit of an aloof dummy and probably move onto reading Miss Marple instead. That’s how I feel about the X-Men books. Miss Marple is beckoning!
