It's time for me to come and disagree with everything you said. Actually that's not true. We agree that this comic should not be described as a Nightcrawler comic. He's barely involved. We also agree that this book looks amazing. It's so wonderful to see Alan Davis inking his own stuff. I don't think I've seen him do that since the New Mutants annual that introduced Psylocke many decades ago.
Lockheed's appearance is a continuity gaffe. When I first read this issue I thought it was fine as we saw Lockheed heading to Krakoa in the last issue of Marauders. I assumed his arrival was off panel and in the absence of Kitty he'd paired up with Kurt and Illyana. Sadly the next issue of Marauders shows his return so I lose my No-Prize. I was glad to see him here, though, as he was a key element in the best remembered Sidri hunters story.
They would definitely consider him a threat.
Generally speaking this was a positive for me. The issues with this story were editorial but it was a fun little done-in-one.
Great to hear Andrew agreeing with my reading of the Cyclops/Wolverine scene. I definitely agree with him that Havok and Wolverine are a better team. In fact, Meltdown is sat near the top of my rereading pile at the moment. There is some fun stuff coming with Havok in Hellions but there's no bonding with Wolverine.
I love the way you are so diplomatic about runs you don't like. I wish I could be as fair minded about the Whedon run. I only read the first trade but I thought it was terrible. It was infected by a bad case of Geoff Johns-itis in that he was desperately trying to reset the book to a previous version that he was nostalgic for. I don't care if he did it well as it was a backwards move.
